About Me

I have lived in south Dakota, all of my life. My family is here, my roots are here. While I don't spend alot of time with "family", we always manage to bond together, when times get tough. Gunnar's death is more proof, of that.I also have a huge family of friends, and this "family"also pulls together, in a heart beat, when necessary. My parents live about 70 miles away, my husbands parents live about 7 miles from our house.

weeds, drought, and weeds

as the drought continues, and everything green is turning more brown, by the day, one thing remains the same....the weeds...in the fields, pastures, lawns and gardens...if it's a pretty shade of green, guarenteed...it's weeds.
we quite mowing lawn weeks ago, and when it turns green, it's gettting sprayed...2-4-d, is no stranger, in my world.
we (the dakota's) made stars & stripes......because of the drought. the artice did not, however, mention this little fact...not all crops that have ''burned up'' can be used as a food source for cattle(IT WILL KILL COWS) as the nitrogen levels are extremely high, in corn that didn't get rain.....I've seen this happen...........dugouts in pastures are drying up, ours included..theweatherman says a chance of rain, on tuesday...his last ''chance'' brought .10 inch...and 95 degree heat an hour later....
