About Me

I have lived in south Dakota, all of my life. My family is here, my roots are here. While I don't spend alot of time with "family", we always manage to bond together, when times get tough. Gunnar's death is more proof, of that.I also have a huge family of friends, and this "family"also pulls together, in a heart beat, when necessary. My parents live about 70 miles away, my husbands parents live about 7 miles from our house.

To Realize

To realize
The value of a sister
Ask someone
Who doesn't have one.
To realize
The value of ten years:
Ask a newly Divorced couple
To realize
The value of four years:
Ask a graduate.
To realize
The value of one year:
Ask a student who
Has failed a final exam.
To realize
The value of nine months:
Ask a mother who gave birth to a stillborn.
To realize
The value of one month:
Ask a mother
Who has given birth to
A premature baby.
To realize
The value of one week
Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize
The value of one minute:
Ask a person
Who has missed the train, bus or plane.
To realize
The value of one-second:
Ask a person
Who has survived an accident.
Time waits for no one.
Treasure every moment you have.
You will treasure it even more when
You can share it with someone special.
To realize
the value of a friend or family member:
LOSE ONE.

where were you---9/11/2001

I was in Aberdeen south Dakota, doing what i was doing, back in those daze....selling melons...as in watermelons.......i was at the ''stand''/business....watching the morning news, doing the ''wound'' care to my ankle(s), when the plane struck the 2nd tower.........OH! MY GOD!i was 2hours away from home, no vehicle......hell the burns on my ankles were really raw, yet, i could wear clogs, but nothing else that resembled any type of shoe..(i didn't wear shoes, until 14 nov, i remember, because it was my dad's birthday..the burns were 3rd&4th degree, and the injury happened on 24june...........
9-11....it was a very very slow day, in the produce business, and how the time dragged on, until my kids finally called me, that they were home from school......long, hard day, for them, tooo.........we were only 120 miles apart/ away, yet it felt like thousands of miles...........i rember feeling that very same distance/feeling, alot of times while Gunnar was in iraq..........and i still feel it, often.......the helplessness...the ''there isn't a damned thing i can do to change this'' feeling of despair, that hits me when i least expect it......it absolutely takes my breathe away.......and i can't start breatheing, until i've started crying........like just now..........

FREEDOM ISN'T FREE
GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.
