They say, writing is supposed to be a good way, to work your way thru the greiving process..Somehow,
I seem to have problems, keeping thiscommitment... so..as a grieving mom, I'm hoping that this blog will help keep Gunnar's friends in-touch with me,& give them a place to ''check-in''. Even though so many months have passed, i know it's still hard for you guys to come to the house..it's still hard, for me to be here, sometimes..... But, I want every one of you to know, how much I appreciate your emails, phone calls, and visits. Thank you, for the memories, the laughter, and the healing power of our tears.....I can't imagine my life, without every one of you, in it(my life)......you know who you are..................BECAUSE I AM THE MOM! Thank you, & I love you..........now &.always,......
I have lived in south Dakota, all of my life. My family is here, my roots are here. While I don't spend alot of time with "family", we always manage to bond together, when times get tough. Gunnar's death is more proof, of that.I also have a huge family of friends, and this "family"also pulls together, in a heart beat, when necessary. My parents live about 70 miles away, my husbands parents live about 7 miles from our house.
It's those memories that have to last a lifetime now.... I understand the loss you feel, for I have lost myself. I understand the pain in your heart for my heart breaks too.I understand the longing for I feel the empty spot also.... Mother of 2 Angels.... I was doing some research on a fallen soldier from my area and stumbled upon your sons name - and where he was from. I used to live in Woonsocket - from 1990-95. I ran the co-op there in town. I still think of those years and the people of that area among the best people I ever met. I recognized the name Dean Senska when I read of Gunnar. Anyway, Your comments about help coming from all over the world during the days of grief is so true. Our son Jim was killed on Feb 8th in Karmah, Iraq. He was the same age as Gunnar - born Jan 30th, 1985. Jim went to school there in Woonsocket for a year - I think it was 1990 - before we decided to homeschool the kids. They may have been friends? I visit the area every fall for hunting. With permission, I may stop in for a visit? Strange, the things that bring people together.

Hello,
